Hello everyone!
Today is exactly 3 years since Citizen Sleeper released into the world!
It seems like an insanely short amount of time (especially given that I made a whole sequel and 3 DLC episodes in that time) but it also marks a milestone, and a shift in the series and the universe. After all this is the first anniversary when its been a series we are celebrating, and I want to make sure everyone knows I am not done with Citizen Sleeper yet, even if the videogames are finished for now. So, to that end, every May 5th will now be Citizen Sleeper Day!
And for the very first of these days, I wanted to offer something free and fun that you could print and play at home, but also something that speaks to the TTRPG future of the Citizen Sleeper universe. So, to that end, meet SPINDLEJACK, a solo TTRPG about zero-g bike couriers!
SPINDLEJACK is a bit of experimental design I first dreamed up when I was researching the Far Spindle’s bike couriers (of which Kadet is a member). It is a turn-based solo game where you play as a courier, dodging haulers, cutting through intersections and trying to make enough cryo to get by. Even if you’ve never played a solo TTRPG (or heard of one before!) Spindlejack should be easy enough to play if you print it out, grab 10 six-sided dice and stick with it for a bit.
I’d love to hear about your experiences with it, whether you are new to TTRPGs or not.
And, as I mentioned above, Guillaume and I have also been working on a new piece of art, to represent the Citizen Sleeper games in any current or future forms. This is the HELION COLLECTION you might have seen on Steam or elsewhere, and it allows us to show the series in a single image. As usual, Guillaume did an amazing job bringing both games together in the art.
Also, beyond that I totaled up the Citizen Sleeper numbers and found we had more than 2 million players across the series. It’s a shocking fact, and I can’t help but smile at how lucky I have been to have my work meet with such a reception.
For a bit of extra fun I dug into our achievement percentages to find out a little more about the choices made by all 2 million players, and included those as well.
And that’s it for Citizen Sleeper Day 2025, even if it’s not the end of Citizen Sleeper. both games are on discount right now, so feel free to recommend them to a friend or pick them up if you’ve been holding back on one or the other. They are at their lowest price ever, just to make today that little bit sweeter.
Meanwhile I’m working on future projects, from TTRPGs, to merch, to physical versions, and hopefully I can announce one or two of those before the Summer is over.
Until then, have a great day, and see you next time!
Gareth
Happy Citizen Sleeper day and thank you so much for these two wonderful games Gareth. Definitely going to check out Spindlejack.
A citizen sleeper TTRPG would definitely scratch a sci-fi itch I’ve had for a long time, wow
