Hello!
One of the things I love about making indie game is all the fun experiments I get to do, and today we are launching the weirdest and most exciting one of these, a Citizen Sleeper 2 TTRPG Actual Play!
Let’s Play to Find Out!
Maybe you watch Critical Role every week, maybe you have only ever seen the Baldur’s Gate 3 cast play D&D, or maybe you have no idea what anything in this sentence means! If you are the latter, actual play is one of my favorite things: videos or podcasts where people play tabletop RPGs live, and both play and discover a story using dice rolls and improvisation!
This anniversary I wanted to finally take a shot at getting involved in actual play, and after a chance meeting with Quinns of Quinns Quest and Shut Up, Sit Down, we hatched a terrible/terrific plan: A Citizen Sleeper 2 actual play, establishing some of the setting, ideas and rhythm of the game, months before anyone gets to play!
We used the excellent CBR+PNK system, and I think the final result is pretty fun! I really hope you enjoy this anniversary celebration and Citizen Sleeper 2 tease. Citizen Sleeper is born out of a love for the contemporary TTRPG scene, and this collaboration has been the most wonderful way to celebrate that!
Nothing in the Belt ever runs smooth…
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, many preparations are being laid for the Citizen Sleeper 2 gameplay reveal. And oh yes, this reveal is coming soon.
In around a month you will get to see what I have been working hard to create over the past year and a bit. I can’t wait to share it with you, and I hope you’ll all get a kick from the reveal when it comes. More soon!
Meanwhile, if you want a sneak peek, EDGE put an edited version of their earlier cover story online. Enjoy!
The Fools Journey
Finally I’m also happy to report that we are in the very final stages of Cycle of the Eye, and also on the sampling stage for the Design Works project in general. I know you have all been patient while we finesse the game and book, but things are looking good for us to start delivery of these massive projects at the end of June, 2024.
After a lot of playtesting, i’m so happy with how Cycles of the Eye has come out, it’s a whole new way to experience the original Sleeper’s journey through the Eye, and to reinvent it yourself, creating unique and fresh stories out of the character, locations and atmospheres of the first game. We wanted to take the time to get it right, and I am confident we’ve done that.
That’s it for now, let me know what you think of our first foray into actual play and I’ll check back in when we are getting close to that all important reveal….
See you soon!
Exciting!!
Exciting stuff. Thanks for sharing!
